Special Moments

Fron Male Voice Choir North Wales

A special family we have been privileged to get to know recently shared a discovery. The Fron Choir practice twice a week in a local school hall and visitors are welcome to join them to listen.

Yesterday evening, Tim and I went along and it was wonderful, creating special moments. We were made so welcome, chairs were brought out, and we were joined by a lady from Germany (whose brother is in the choir), a lady, her daughter and grandson over from Australia and the brother and sister, our new friends.

The choir were practising their pieces for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod competition this weekend. Sitting there surrounded by their beautiful voices and harmonies, and shared jokes and banter between the men and their musical director, Leigh, was special. The choir was formed in 1947 and one of its original members is still in the choir. You can read their history here.

The choir's energy and joy filled the room and it was a privilege to be there.

We got to meet members of the choir during their break, introduce ourselves and have a chat. We went as strangers and left as friends, which is exactly what our family friends said when we met. I arrived as a stranger to create and take their lovely Mam's service, which included the hymn 'Abide with Me', sung by The Fron Choir, and we parted as friends.

Several services I have been involved with have included The Fron Choir's wonderful singing and it felt fitting to choose one of their pieces for our wedding.

After this special group of people had practised their pieces for the Eisteddfod, they surprised us by singing our wedding piece, 'I can't help falling in love' at the end of the evening, as Tim and I held hands and tears slid down my face.
