Friday Balm 1 September 2023

On a walk around the lake this morning, out in the middle, there was a lone duck gently resting on the water, fast asleep. His buddies were swimming together on the other side, and rain was softly falling.

He floated peacefully.

I stood and watched for a while and saw his trust.

Trust in himself, that he was held by the water. Trust that the lake would hold him. Trust that he was safe. Trust that his buddies would come if he needed them. Trust that all was well enough for him to let go and sleep.

We live on a beautiful planet we can trust. We trust ourselves. We gather those around us that we can trust. We trust that our world can sustain us. We trust that we are safe.

We can live peacefully.
